getting involved

  • The Neighborhood Faces research study aims to understand the relationship between civic engagement and equitable outcomes in communities around the world.

As the world becomes increasingly urbanized, by 2040, two out of every three people will live in a city. It's more important than ever to understand how community involvement can address social and economic challenges.

Ultimately, our goal is to use this research to inform the development of policies and practices that support the active and meaningful participation of all members of a community in decision-making processes, and that promote equitable outcomes for all.

  • Join our multi-method study: We are using a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods such as surveys, interviews, case studies, and observational research to gain a holistic understanding of civic engagement and equitable outcomes in communities around the world.

Be a part of our cross-cultural study: We are recruiting researchers from different countries and cultures to collect data on civic engagement and equitable outcomes in a variety of communities around the world.

Participate in our participatory research: By involving community members in the research process, we aim to gain a deeper understanding of their perspectives and experiences, and increase the likelihood of community members adopting any recommendations or policies that come out of the research.

Join our longitudinal study: We are tracking the changes in civic engagement and equitable outcomes over time to identify patterns and trends and understand how these change over time.

Take part in our online surveys: We are using online surveys to reach a large number of participants in different locations and time zones, allowing us to collect data from a diverse range of participants.

  • Participating in the Neighborhood Faces research study is an opportunity to make a real impact in creating more inclusive and prosperous communities.

By providing in-depth insights into the ways in which individuals and groups participate in civic life and the factors that contribute to more equitable outcomes, the research has the potential to inform the development of policies and practices that support the active and meaningful participation of all members of a community in decision-making processes, and that promote equitable outcomes for all.

Furthermore, by participating in this study, you will be developing skills in both user experience research and civic research, which are vital to help cities thrive. User experience research is a field that focuses on understanding the needs and experiences of users, and using this knowledge to design products and services that are easy and satisfying to use.

Civic research, on the other hand, focuses on understanding the ways in which individuals and groups participate in civic life and how this participation affects the well-being of communities. Together, these skills will enable you to design products and services that not only meet the needs of users, but also contribute to the well-being of the community.

In short, participating in this study is an opportunity to not only learn new skills but also to make a real-world impact by contributing to the development of policies and practices that support the active and meaningful participation of all members of a community in decision-making processes and that promote equitable outcomes for all.
